Creation not Evolution

The theory of evolution cannot explain how complicated adaptations in nature came about; certainly not by chance mutation and natural selection.  Every animal was created to live in their respective environment.  If what evolution claims is true, that creatures developed and adapted over time, then a lot of them would have died in the transition process.

For instance, if a bird developed wings over time, or a fish developed fins over time, a partly developed wing or fin is of no use to these creatures.  The bird would not be able to fly nor the fish able to swim.  Therefore their chances of survival would be rather slim.

What we see in nature is perfect adaptation, every animal developed perfectly for its purpose.  All creatures as we see them now, were always that way.  There is absolutely no proof of an animal partly in the evolution stage.  The same goes for plants.  Each plant was designed for a specific purpose.  The different shapes, colours and sizes of plants and trees are testament to an intelligent designer.

Every single living thing was created for a purpose.  All animals and insects have a role to play in nature.  For e.g., birds help to keep the insect population in check.  If insects are not kept in check, then we would not have any plant life.

Another interesting form of life is bacteria and fungi.  They take care of dead material, reducing them to chemical substances that are helpful to plants.  There are also other creatures that help take care of the dead in nature such as the sexton or necrophorous beetle, bluebottle flies and vultures to name a few.  If these creatures didn’t exist then what would happen to a dead animal?  It would not decompose and there would just be piles and piles of dead animals filling the earth.

The point is if life “evolved” then somewhere along the line it would have been destroyed by one element because the other element was not around to keep it in check.  This is how the balance in nature works.  It shows that it took an intelligent designer to make sure “everything was good”.

Planet earth, according to research, is the most unique planet in the universe, and the only one in which humans can survive.  It is just the right size, the right distance from the sun, and its rotating speed is just right also.  The sun is 93,000,000 miles away from the earth, just the right distance to give us the light, heat and power we need, that helps give us vapour for rainfall and photosynthesis for plant food.  The sun itself consumes a lot of energy, but remains stable year after year.  All this shows that there must be an intelligence behind how the earth and other planets operate.

The Creator God keeps the universe going and once science accepts this fact, all the mysteries of the universe can be solved.  Science and the bible are compatible and not contradictory.  Colossians 1:15-16 proves this fact as it states:

“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.  He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.  Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth.  He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see… Everything has been created through him and for him.  He existed before everything else began and he holds all creation together”.

The moon also helps the earth.  The moon, as well as the sun, creates tides in the ocean and atmosphere that helps circulate the air in the atmosphere.  Our atmosphere has the right amount of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases that make it safe for humans.  No other planet is as fortunate.

The Oceans

Life on earth would not be possible without water.  The earth is ¾ covered by water with oceans that are almost 2 miles deep.  These oceans are filled with life.  Initially, scientists theorized that the water came from volcanoes, but others state that water from volcanoes could not have filled the oceans as they are today.  It is a fact that God created the seas as stated in Job 38:8-11.  The sea also contains salt, magnesium, potash, uranium, radium, gold, silver, bromine (found nowhere else) and various other minerals.

We must not forget the fresh water lakes and rivers where we get our drinking water.  God made sure we have an adequate supply of fresh water for our needs.

There are three cycles of the oceans.  They are:

1. Food Cycle – these are called plankton that grows in abundance 250 feet under the seas.  Plankton is the primary source of food for sea life such as herring, sardines, mackerel and other small fish.  Then of course, the big fish eat the little fish and so on, and the cycle continues.
2. Oxygen Cycle – All life in the sea need oxygen to live, and this oxygen comes from the surface layer.  Plankton, like any other plant, breathes in carbon dioxide and breathes out oxygen.  Another way the ocean receives oxygen is through the currents via the fall of the water from the wind and the waves.
3. Phosphate cycle – Phosphate is vital to life.  In the ocean, phosphate is made by the algae in the plankton.  The fish eat the plankton.  The fish dies and drops to the bottom of the ocean.  In the composition, the phosphate returns to the lower levels of the ocean, where it is steadily built up.  Then whenever the water is stirred up, this phosphate is brought back up to the sunlit portions of plankton growth.

These cycles show how the Creator takes care of the life in the depths of the seas.

The Stars

The universe is made up of millions of galaxies.  In this vast cosmic system, the earth is the only planet where intelligent life exists.  Before science became so sophisticated, some aspects of it were already mentioned in the bible.  Consider this passage in Job:

“He (God) alone has spread out the heavens and marches on the waves of the sea.  He made all the starts – Bear, Orion, the Pleaiades and the Constellations of the southern sky”. (Job 9:8-9)

God alone is responsible for creating the heavens and the stars and galaxies.  The Milky Way galaxy, of which earth belongs, has billions of stars and the other billions of galaxies each have billions of their own.  Some of these stars or planets are much larger than our earth and sun.  Antares, a double star in the constellation of Scorpio is approximately 400,000,000 miles in diameter, and there are other stars larger still.  So just imagine how vast the universe really is.

Again, there are passages in the bible that indicate there are numerous stars in the skies:

“I will bless you richly.  I will multiply your descendants into countless millions, like the stars of the sky and the sand in the seashore.” (Genesis 22:17)

Atheists can try as hard as they can to come up with ways of how the universe came to be, but all evidence shows that an intelligent designer is responsible for our beautiful universe.

“It is God who sits above the circle of the earth.  The people below must seem like grasshoppers!  He is the one who spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them.”  Isaiah 40:22

When we look at the facts for Creation against evolution, evolution has no basis.  The bible states that God created the heaven and the earth, including all living things – animals, plants and people.  All the evidence supports the biblical record and the only reason most scientists and atheists support evolution is because they deny a creator.  There must be an alternative as far as they are concerned, even if there is no evidence to back it up.

As far as science is concerned, evolution is a fact.  But why has God allowed this lie to continue for so long?  It is all part of his plan, for Thessalonians 2:10-11 states:

“He (Satan) will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them.  So God will send great deception upon them, and they will believe all these lies.”

God has deliberately closed the minds of those who refuse to believe in truth, who insist on believing lies and teaching these lies to others.

Evolution is a religion to scientists, and there are scientists who admit that as hard as they try, it is impossible to prove it.  It is really a belief system.  Nature in itself proves the fact that there is a Creator.  Evolution defies the laws of nature.

Evolution Defined

Darwin’s theory is that all living matter descended from once source, with no creator or designer.  Generally it started with: protozoa – primitive metazoa – worms – fish – amphibians – reptiles – birds – mammals – man.

There are even Christians and theologians who believe in evolution, that God used evolution to create life.  They are called theistic evolutionists.

The bible states in Genesis 1:24 that “every kind of animal is able to reproduce more of its own kind”.  This means for e.g. that cats (feline kind) can only reproduce cats.

Evolution, however, teaches that one kind, over time, can transmutate into an entirely new kind, from the lower into the higher.

This has never been demonstrated or proven.  Different kinds of animals cannot inter-breed.  Even if two distantly related species have been successfully mated and reproduce, that offspring will be sterile and not able to reproduce of its own.  So it is impossible for an entire new species to develop.

When scientists want to prove evolution all they do really is show variants within the same species, but no new species from another.  For e.g., there are 80,000 species of snails, but they are all still snails.

In my post “Is Progressive Creation Believable, Grant left me this comment:

“The age of the earth has been quite accurately empirically determined as 4.55 billion years +/- a relatively small error margin. Pb/Pb isochron ages (a completely empirical test) give us that result, which is backed up by multiple other radiometric dating results”.

I did some research on it and found it rather interesting.  I think I understand now why there is so much controversy on this gap theory.  However, I am willing to give the scientists the benefit of the doubt.

According to the scholars, it was the fallen angels that caused the earth to become chaotic.  The theory goes like this:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).  This could have been between 6,000 years or billions of years.

Verse 2: :”The earth was without form or void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.”

The word “was” could mean “became”.  The phrase “without form” translated from the Hebrew word “tohu” means formless, confusion, empty, wasteland, chaotic.  Then the word “void” from the Hebrew word “bohu” means emptiness, void, waste or ruin.  So the verse should read: “But the earth had become a ruin and a desolation”.

But since God did not originally create the earth in vain (Isaiah 41:11) something caused it to become wasted and chaotic.

When God first created the earth, the angels shouted for joy (Job 38:4-7).  This would include Lucifer, who later became Satan.  However, at some point Lucifer rebelled, accounts which you can find in Isaiah 14:12, 14:13-14 and Ezekiel 28:14-16.  God cast Satan and his angels to the earth and they probably over a period of time, caused the earth to become desolate.  In Jude 6 it is recorded the angels did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but abandoned it.  So this is where God began the renewing and replenishing of the earth.  (Psalm 104:30).

Now if the empirical test quoted above is true then this account is plausible. God, in Genesis 1, re-created the earth.

Now I know this is a controversy that will be ongoing, but as I do more research, I will post my findings and hope that you continue to give me feedback.

Over the years there have been many a quest to find that missing link between man and ape.  In their desperation there has been many a fraud to try and convince us that man descended from apes.  So far there has been no success to find the missing link.  One of the more popular of these hoaxes is Piltdown Man.  Piltdown man was found near Piltdown Commons, Sussex, England by Charles Dawson in 1910.  He found a series of fragments consisting of a jawbone, piece of skull and two teeth.  This find made its way into textbooks and was taught that it was man’s ancestor.  However, after 40 years, the truth was revealed that the whole thing was not true.  The bones were that of an ape, and the teeth were deliberately painted brown to give it an antiquated look.  The evolutionists were fooled because they are gullible to anything that can support their beliefs.  Other finds that have turned out to be false are Nebraska man, Peking man and Java man.

Another thing that does not make sense is the dating of fossils.  It seems as though circular reasoning is used as they use the rocks to date the fossils and the fossils to date the rocks.  The Geological column is not consistent as sometimes older formations are found on top rather than below.  In other instances, several formations will be missing or out of place.  In reality, actual sediments average about one mile in depth, but in textbooks, the sediments are over 100 miles.  The flood of the bible is the only plausible way the sediments could have been caused.

It is clear that evolution is more of a religious belief because despite all the evidence – or lack of evidence as the case may be, that does not support evolution – the evolutionists does not want to relent.  All the facts point to creation, but the evolutionists disregard this and embrace evolution as fact.  It is clear that their faith is one based on the heart and not mind, not like a true Christian whose faith in God is based on both heart and mind.

Progressive creation suggests that there is a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2.  That creation took place in Genesis 1:2, possibly millions or billions of years after the first creation in Genesis 1:1.  This is where too, the present fossil record came about and not through Noah’s flood.

The texts that are used to explain this is Genesis 1:2 which should be translated:

“And the earth became without form and void”, and Genesis 1:28 which states: “God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it”; meaning to refill the earth with habitants that were lost during the first creation.

But what about God’s own words in Genesis 2:2 which states:

“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day.”

Neither the evolutionist nor the creationist can provide empirical proof for an old or young earth, at least not from a scientific point of view.  The Genesis account suggests a young earth, although there are some who interpret the first few verses to suggest that the earth could be older to try and fit in the evolution theory.  But if it is proven that the earth is indeed young, then this will have a great impact on the evolutionist.

One of the things that suggests a young earth is the population growth.  If the human race has been in existence for millions of years, then the human population should be approximately 2×10⁴³ people judging by a growth rate of 0.01% annually.  At least we should see evidence of this by millions of skeletal remains.

Christians should be careful and not be influenced by atheistic scientists trying to prove the earth as millions or billions of years old.

Advancement in Science as well as an intelligent design revolution is slowly beginning to reveal all the flaws in Darwin’s evolution theory, and some scientists are even admitting to the flaws. According to a New York Times article in August 2005, President Bush stated that he believed intelligent design should be taught in public schools alongside evolution and he thought that part of education was to expose people to different schools of thought so they can understand what the debate was all about. 

Many scientists have found flaws in the Darwinian theory and biochemist Michael Behe was angered about the suppression of these flaws after reading Dr. Michael Denton’s Book: “Evolution:A Theory in Crisis”.  He wrote his own book: “Darwin’s Black Box” (1996) disclosing scientific weaknesses in the evolution theory. 

Another biologist, Jonathan Wells wrote a book, “Icons of Evolution” (2000) which exposed the misrepresented and false examples used to teach evolution. 

A 2004 AP report entitled: “Famous Atheist Now Believes in God”, revealed that once atheist, Sir Antony Flew, renounced his atheistic views because of evidence of a DNA molecule.  He said:

“It now seems to me, that the findings of more than fifty years of DNA research have provided materials for a new and enormously powerful argument to design… Biologists’ investigation of DNA has shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved.”  He “had to go where the evidence leads”. 

Walter Bradley, author of the book, “The Mystery of Life’s Origin” stated:

“It is quite easy to understand why so many scientists have changed their minds in the past thirty years, agreeing that the universe cannot reasonably be explained as a cosmic accident.  Evidence for any intelligent designer becomes more compelling the more we understand about our carefully crafted habitat.” 

A 2004 Gallup poll revealed that 35% of Americans believe that the Bible is the literal and inerrant word of the Creator of the Universe.  48% believe that it is the ‘inspired’ Word and 17% doubt that a personal God, in his infinite wisdom, is likely to have authored the text. 

Martin Rees, president of Britain’s Royal Society, stated:

“The pre-eminent mystery is why anything exists at all.  What breathes life into the equation, and actualized them in a real cosmos.  Such questions lie beyond science, however, they are the province of philosophers and theologians”.  (Sunday Times, December 24, 2006). 

A nationwide poll in the US revealed only 22% believed human beings evolved from earlier species as the theory of evolution claims. 

There is no doubt that sooner rather than later this whole evolution mania will be dispelled as along as honest scientists keep the public updated with the latest findings and creationists continue to preach and spread the word of God’s wonderful creation story.

Before the prominence of Darwinism, atheism belonged to a small group of intellectuals.  However, their belief in a non-creator somehow didn’t make sense.  Then, in the 19^th century, the will to discard theistic religion and replace it with a naturalistic understanding became heightened.  Evolution theories were around, but Darwin put the icing on the cake and thus atheism spread like wildfire.  But there were those who managed to marry the two, belief in God and naturalistic evolution. 

The bible is filled with scriptures that tells of God creative nature and glory, and that it is obvious for man to see.  But Darwin teaches that nature and life only appear to be created, but it is really just a mindless, purposeless process. 

Most naturalists acknowledge the fact that science does not have the answer to all the questions and cannot tell us how to live.  But instead of looking to God for answers, people want to be free to make up their own rules and moral values. 

Scientific technology has made such tremendous ground in modern times that Christian academics felt compelled to accept the naturalistic teachings of the history of life if they wished to remain in secular academic circles.  But with all the advancement in the scientific world, it is clear that science research is geared to promoting philosophical doctrines that have no scientific basis whatsoever. 

What we see happening now is, as people got their wish to be free from religious traditions that they felt enslaved them due to Darwinism, they are now seeing the consequences as morals have declined considerably and the value of human life is no longer taken seriously.  This all because no-one wants to be held accountable to a Creator God. 

The reason why science is not willing to admit to a creator is because of its religious tones and as far as they are concerned, science and religion should not mix.  To admit to an intelligent designer would mean giving up on science and reason.  When they do mention God however is to theorize that a loving God would not create a world of waste, pain and death.  It means that he does not care about his creation, so only a blind watchmaker can be responsible for creation.  What these science experts should do is pay attention to the scientific difficulties of the evolution theory rather than support it with their own personal biases and theological speculations.  

What needs to happen is discussions between the Darwinists and the Christian community.  Also the science community needs to get rid of its arrogance and dogmatism so that the Christian community can ease their bad feelings on the subject of evolution.  

The real reason for the rift between the Darwinists and Christians is the way the word evolution is used.  Because of the multiple meanings such as “change over time” or “man’s purposeless, natural process”, this confuses people and in discussions the term needs to be clarified.  What also causes problems is the belief that science is a reliable source of knowledge and what they claim is indeed fact.  Whereas in some cases, it is largely influenced by political, philosophical and religious influences. 

Because science established evolution as fact and denying a supernatural creator, the Christian scholars held a defensive standpoint.  Many Christian scholars accepted this naturalistic worldview with dire consequences.  But for those who held on to the belief in a creator God, the question was how to preserve and spread the truth to a world that believes the existence of God is not rational. 

Belief that life was created through a naturalistic, purposeless and mindless process is going against Paul’s advice of transforming one’s mind.  (Romans 12:2).  Once our minds are renewed, we can help open up the minds of those who have accepted the blind watchmaker thesis uncritically.  When they’ve come to realize that the theory is just a naturalistic philosophy, not based on fact, then they will wonder how in God’s name they could have accepted this in the first place. 

The whole question of evolution and the blind watchmaker thesis will no doubt one day be seen for what they really are – false unproven theories.

Science is the main weapon critics use to attack the bible.  With major breakthroughs in science, technology has grown exponentially and what was considered luxury decades ago have now become rather common with almost everyone having access to the latest gadgets. 

People have used science to try and discredit the bible.  According to some the bible has now become an “outdated book” because science can now give us all the knowledge we need.  However all the scientific knowledge gathered so far are still more or less theories and are still yet to be proven as fact.  So while some areas of science are valid, there are still categories of information that need to be tested or established. 

Science is basically the gathering of knowledge to better understand the how and why of how things work as it relates to the world and the universe.  Science and technology go hand in hand as they are both dependent on each other. 

There are two categories of science:

1. Exact Sciences – these would include physics, chemistry, biology etc 
2. Non Exact Sciences – History, Sociology and Humanities 

The methods for study and analysis will differ from discipline to discipline and the methods of investigation and analysis will be valid from one field but not for another.  What is important though is that logic be used in the methods of investigation.  Logic helps in determining what is true from false. 

Therefore, one has to be careful when discussing the Bible and science.  Science is a good thing and has made great strides especially in recent times, but it has been used to discredit God and the Bible. 

Science basically means “the gathering of knowledge” and the foundation of all scientific knowledge starts with Logic and Mathematics.  This falls under the term Normative Sciences.  Logic and Mathematics are the foundation of all sciences as every deduction has to conform to logical and mathematical stipulations before it can be accepted as true. 

In the world of science, information can be categorized as theories and facts.  Information that is based on theory should have no place in discussions about the bible and science, only those that deal with the facts and laws of science.  When using scientific information based on facts, you will find that a lot of misconceptions about the bible will disappear. 

Model Making in Science

A model is used when studying things that cannot be easily handled.   There are two types of models – qualitative/descriptive models and quantitative/mathematical models. 

The theory of evolution and scientific creation are both examples of scientific models.  However, the evolutionist should not claim his model is truth.  He should rather state that his model is a possibility in which life came into being.  

Testing of both models should be able to explain: 

1. the maximum number of observed phenomena related to life, and
2. the maximum number of predictions about phenomena related to life, but not observed so far. 

Only the Scientific Creation model has been able to do this. 

In the world of Science, model making is a must.  However, it must be understood that the model itself is not truth but only a representation of the truth.  Therefore, the Christian Apologist must be wary when scientific theories are used in debates or discussions with the bible. 

Science has really advanced over the years.  It is used in a variety of ways to find answers to questions that long ago seemed impossible to answer.  However, when it comes to the bible, we must understand that material science cannot explain or give answers to those questions that come out of the bible.  We must look to historical science. 

The Origin of the Universe, Life and Archaeology belongs with Historical studies.  Demanding scientific proof for historical events in the Bible is beyond reason and shows the lack of knowledge about scientific investigation.
